With one of the biggest games of the Premier League calendar on the horizon, Everton fans here in the pub are already gearing up for their clash against Liverpool this weekend.

It’s the match that decides the bragging rights in one of the most football-mad cities in the country and it’s only right that we saw an outpouring of passion leading up to the game, which has gotten the Tavern absolutely rocking this week!

Both the Liverpool and Everton fans are getting at one another with both of them knowing that a win will help their own chances of European football, when the end of the season eventually rolls around.

For Ronald Koeman’s Everton side, Europa League football is probably as about as good as it will get this season whilst for Jurgen Klopp, he’ll be trying to get as close to title chasers Chelsea as possible.

But what has been clear to a number of punters here in the Transfer Tavern for some time is that there are a couple of players in this squad that deserve another opportunity to shine, whether it’s in the Liverpool game or towards the latter part of the season.

So with that in mind, here’s TWO players Ronald Koeman must give another chance to this season…

Mason Holgate

It’s never nice to see long-serving players having to take time out of the game to recover from injury but there’s certainly a long road ahead for Seamus Coleman, who suffered a horrendous broken leg after his side’s clash with Wales last week.

But where there is disappointment for one individual, it gives another man the chance to break into the first-team and this represents a cracking opportunity for young Mason Holgate, who we’ve begun seeing more and more of over the past few months.

He’s a defender who can play anywhere across the backline and we could see him come into the side in the coming weeks as a replacement for Coleman, whom Everton fans here in the pub are wishing all the best for a speedy recovery.

James McCarthy

The summer signing of Idrissa Gueye and the January addition of Morgan Schneiderlin has really seen Irish international James MCCarthy fall down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

It’s a shame to see him sat on the side week-in, week-out as what we’ve seen in the past from the midfielder has been very promising indeed.

And after ding such a good job in the past for his side, there’s plenty of our Everton contingent that want to see him involved as the season comes to an end.

Koeman certainly deserves to give him a chance.
