Loads of Everton fans have been reacting to reports that the club are looking to complete a deal for Lille defender Gabriel.
Le10 Sport revealed that both the Toffees and Arsenal are interested in bringing the Brazilian centre-back to the Premier League, with both sides making enquiries in January. The French outfit recently handed the 22-year-old a new contract which extended his stay with Les Dogues until 2023 but would put them in a stronger position if the two sides come calling once more.
At 6ft 2in, the towering centre half is currently into his second season at Lille with one goal in 31 appearances this term, as per TransferMarkt. He has a dominating presence when it comes to defensive headers, with an average of 3.4 aerial duels won in Ligue 1, and good concentration levels with a pass success rate of 82.1%, as per WhoScored. Equipped with both of these qualities, they are traits from which Everton could benefit considering the fact they’ve shipped the joint ninth-highest number of goals in the Premier League and the supporters below seem to recognise that. One fan said that it would be “interesting” if true, while another described him as a “very good prospect”.
