Liverpool’s Champions League hopes were handed a huge blow yesterday following defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield, which opens the door for Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Reds defeat could allow Manchester United to leapfrog them in the standings over the coming weeks and may see Arsenal draw level, should Liverpool’s two rivals win their games in hand over Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Whilst the defeat to Crystal Palace can’t really come as a surprise, as the Eagles have been rejuvenated in recent weeks in Sam Allardyce’s guidance, Liverpool fans were angry to see Mamadou Sakho celebrate the South London side’s victory.
Sakho was ineligible for the game yesterday against his parent side, due to a clause in the loan deal he secured in January, but the French defender still managed to grab the headlines as he celebrated victory against his employer.
Our landlord believes that it was unprofessional from Sakho, although he does add that the club haven’t exactly treated him well in the past year.
