Coventry City's Viktor Gyokeres celebrates scoring
Reliable reporter Alan Nixon has been reacting to Leeds United’s reported interest in Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Lowdown: Enquiry made
The Whites have made a start on their January business with the signing of defender Max Wober from RB Salzburg. Next on the agenda could well be a new forward for Jesse Marsch’s side, with links emerging to Gyokeres towards the end of 2022.
Reports even suggested that Leeds have made an enquiry for the Coventry star, who has netted 12 times in 25 Championship games this season.
The Latest: Nixon reacts
Nixon was asked by one Leeds supporter on Twitter in the last 48 hours if the rumours about the Whites and Gyokeres are true. He wasn’t sure if the rumours are completely concrete, adding that it would take a ‘big fee’ to secure the Sweden international’s services.
“It’s a big fee and they have plenty of forwards… so not sure about that one.”
The Verdict: £16m?
It seems as if Leeds would need to make an offer in the region of £16m for The Sky Blues to consider a sale.
That would place the player in the top ten most expensive arrivals at Elland Road, but free-scoring forwards don’t come cheap in today’s market, so whoever Leeds target in attack could be costly.

Gyokeres is clearly in fine form and is versatile enough to also provide an option out wide under Marsch, so it could be a link to keep an eye on despite Nixon’s comments.
