Leeds United are back in the Premier League, and their summer transfer window has been nothing short of hectic. Determined to avoid another quick return to the Championship, manager Daniel Farke is pushing for a squad that can not only survive but compete at the top level.
So far, four signings have arrived: Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Gabriel Gudmundsson. Each brings much-needed European experience and quality—something the squad sorely lacked last time around.
But the Whites aren’t finished yet.
The next player on their radar? La Liga playmaker Christantus Uche. And this week, Leeds have reportedly received a promising boost in their pursuit of the Nigeria international.
Christantus Uche to Leeds Update

Leeds’ interest in Christantus Uche has been growing steadily throughout the window. The club are reportedly ready to activate his £21 million release clause, though Brighton and other top sides have also shown interest.
More recently, reports from Spain have suggested that Leeds have moved ahead of other suitors—namely Atletico Madrid and Newcastle United—by intensifying negotiations and getting closer to a deal.
Uche’s agent has openly talked up the chances of a summer move, and on Monday, the clearest sign yet came: Getafe traveled to Valencia for pre-season training, but the 22-year-old was not part of the group. In fact, AS, per MOT Leeds News, report that Uche also missed sessions last week, with his future now up in the air.
The same report notes that Uche has offers from Italy, but his preference is clear—he wants a move to the Premier League. While this isn’t confirmation of a transfer, it certainly feels like a step in the right direction for Leeds.
And what exactly would they be getting for their money? A 6’3″ attacking midfielder with a huge upside—both physically and technically. Getafe coach José Bordalás has described Uche as “fabulous” and praised his rapid rise in the professional game.
“All players go through a process. He reached professional football without going through any stages, and at times it was difficult for him,” Bordalás said, referencing Uche’s unusual journey from Nigerian amateur football to Spanish minnows Moralo in 2022.
“We tried to help him, and he’s helped us a lot, too. It was a risky gamble; there’s room for improvement, but he’s had a great season,” he added.
With raw potential, a strong physical profile, and growing top-flight experience, Uche could be exactly the kind of high-upside signing that defines Leeds’ Premier League return.
