“Unplayable” Tottenham forward to be given final chance under Ange Postecoglou next season

Whether or not Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024/25 campaign was a success depends on who you ask.

On one hand, Spurs finally ended an 18-year trophy drought by lifting the Europa League, beating Manchester United in the final. That victory also secured their return to the Champions League for the 2025/26 season.

On the other hand, their Premier League form was disastrous. Ange Postecoglou’s side finished 17th—just one place above the relegation zone—and lost a staggering 22 of their 38 league matches.

Regardless of how the season is judged, one thing is certain: Spurs must reinforce their squad this summer, either to bounce back domestically or to prepare for the demands of European competition.

One name now being linked with a surprise move to North London is Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

In a development few saw coming, Tottenham are reportedly ready to offer the Frenchman an escape route from Stamford Bridge after two injury-plagued and underwhelming seasons.

According to TalkSPORT, Chelsea are open to selling Nkunku this summer, and Spurs have made an initial enquiry as part of what is expected to be a major squad overhaul. Bayern Munich are also said to be interested, but Nkunku is reportedly open to staying in the Premier League.

Chelsea are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £50 million. Whether Spurs are willing to meet that valuation remains to be seen—but selling such a talented player to a direct rival could spark backlash from Chelsea fans.

Solomon Set for Final Chance

One reinforcement Tottenham could turn to this summer comes from within: Israeli winger Manor Solomon, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Leeds United.

Solomon had a standout campaign in the Championship, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists to help Leeds secure promotion back to the Premier League. His performances drew widespread praise throughout the season.

After assisting on his Leeds debut against Hull City, former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn said on BBC Radio Leeds: “He’s got a quality that is better than this level, you can obviously see that. Initially in the first 20 minutes it was like tackling smoke. He was unplayable at times. All those messages are good messages.”

Signed by Spurs from Fulham in the summer of 2023, Solomon struggled to break into the first team before his loan, making just five appearances for the North London club.

However, following his stellar spell at Elland Road, The Sun reports that Ange Postecoglou is now keen to give the 24-year-old a proper opportunity. The Spurs boss is expected to reintegrate Solomon during pre-season with hopes of keeping him in the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Leeds are reportedly interested in signing Solomon permanently, but with Tottenham in need of attacking reinforcements, a return to his parent club looks likely—though how it all plays out remains to be seen
