Many Leeds United fans have reacted to a tweet by Phil Hay assessing the impact or lack thereof from striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.
The striker arrived at Elland Road in January from RB Leipzig on loan but he has failed to impress, gaining few opportunities under Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Returning along with his fellow teammates to the club’s Thorp Arch training ground earlier this week, reports had emerged about the Frenchman’s early impressions, with The Athletic claiming that coaches were impressed with his hard work and determination.
Despite that initial excitement, Football Insider followed it up with a claim that the striker would have his work cut out to convince Bielsa to hand him a starting place over Patrick Bamford, who has started all-but two Championship games this season for Leeds, making him the club’s number one frontman.
Releasing one of his latest articles, Hay asked two important questions on Augustin and his potential.

Responding to the former Yorkshire Evening Post writer’s tweet, some Leeds fans said they had been impressed by his time at the club so far.
Been impressed with his attitude and desire to be ready. Hope he gets amongst the goals early on.

However, despite such praise, other Leeds fans had doubts on whether or not the former AS Monaco loanee would have an impact at Elland Road moving forward.
He had the world at his feet 18months ago come to Leeds cos of Bielsa hoping he will help him get his career back on track which is good news for Leeds 18months ago. He was way out of our range

The only way he’ll get a start this season is if Bamford pulls up or we play games every few days (rotation). Nketiah scored handful of goals early on and still couldn’t get a start, hopefully it’s a ‘next season signing’ cause Bamford won’t get 5 chances a game in the prem.

Augustin’s move can be turned into a permanent one this summer but that currently seems doubtful given his lack of impact so far, although a good run of form and goals when the Championship season returns could change that.
