Leeds: Fans happy to celebrate promotion ‘behind closed doors’

A large majority of Leeds United fans have said they are happy to see the club celebrate promotion ‘behind closed doors’ rather than EFL officials deem it ‘void’.

With football at a standstill due to the pandemic, much speculation has been heard in media outlets over the future of the English Football League.

Some claims have been made to void the season, whilst a latest comment from EFL chief Rick Parry has revealed that plans are in place to bring the season to an end in a 56-day flurry of football.

Aside from the revelation by Parry, clubs have also been told not to return to training until the middle of May, meaning the season could return at the start of June.

The news will be music to the ears of Leeds fans, who are desperate to gain promotion to the Premier League after sitting inside the top two of the Championship for the most part this term, along with West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has guided The Whites to a successful campaign so far, winning 21 of 37 games which has got them 71 points in the process.

Reacting to a question asked by Twitter account Leeds United Live, fans have responded about the prospect of seeing the team celebrate promotion between ‘behind closed doors’.
