Leeds United picked up a point in their first game of 2020 in the Sky Bet Championship yesterday evening as they drew at the Hawthorns with title rivals West Bromwich Albion.
The men from Elland Road knew that a win could give them daylight in the race for the number one spot in the league but, at the same time, a win for the hosts would see them draw in front.
In the end, a draw was probably about fair and both sides can be fairly pleased with what they saw from their players, as well as how the land lies in the league with many of those below them not really in any kind of form.
Crucially for Leeds, too, it was the substitutions during the game that helped them back into it, with Patrick Bamford scoring off of the bench and Barry Douglas also impressing.
Indeed, the former Wolves man has had a tough time at points at the Whites thanks to injuries but he looked decent yesterday and that was not lost on fans watching on.
Let’s see what they have had to say on Twitter about the defender:
Barry Douglas propaganda starts here.

Thought Barry Douglas looked solid today when he came on

There’s not a much to pick between Douglas and Alioski BUT Douglas offers so much more from corners and free kicks. Look how we struggle to defend against these yet create practically nothing(except v Boro). Being poor at these is an opportunity missed, therefore play Douglas

Did enough in that 45 to start against Wednesday for me. Alioski best off the bench.
