Leeds United took a giant leap towards winning automatic promotion to the Premier League on Saturday afternoon with their victory over Huddersfield Town and it appears fans feel Pablo Hernandez played a pivotal role in helping them to overcome their Yorkshire rivals.

The win over The Terriers at Elland Road – coupled with the fact that West Bromwich Albion were held to a goalless draw with Swansea City – meant Marcelo Bielsa’s side would capture the Championship’s top spot with thanks to goals from Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford.

However, it appears their Spanish ‘wizard’ is one of the men that stood out for praise on social media following the game for making that a possibility. Hernandez played a key role in the middle of the field for Leeds and made sure he would do all he could to influence the result.

According to data collected by WhoScored, the 34-year-old played two key passes, completed three dribbles, 75.4% of his 69 attempted passes whilst also getting involved defensively; managing an impressive three tackles and one interception to hand him a match rating of 7.55.
