Leeds United: Fans respond after Norman Hunter update emerges

Many Leeds United fans have responded to a latest update regarding the health of former player Norman Hunter.

Football’s current standstill due to the pandemic has seen fans of the sport engage with each other via social media, looking back at former players and footage from years gone by. With the disease causing heartache across England and the world, Leeds fans have send goodwill messages to former defender Hunter, who has contracted the illness.

Hunter, who played at Elland Road between 1962 and 1976, has been in hospital and he remains severely unwell. The latest update from the official website for Leeds has passed on a message from the 76-year-old’s family, who thanked fans for their recent messages.

They also thanked NHS staff for their care of Hunter and all of those suffering with the illness at this present time. Leeds confirmed in the statement that they would keep fans up to date with any developments in his health and well being.

During his career at the club, Hunter won several honours, whilst also being a member of England’s 1966 World Cup winning side.
