Forgotten Leeds United player Laurens De Bock has provided an update on his future ahead of his contract expiring at Elland Road this summer.

The Lowdown: De Bock out on loan

The 29-year-old joined the Whites from Club Brugge back in 2018 but it's fair to say he hasn't made his mark at the Yorkshire club, for whom he has amassed just seven appearances overall, the last of which came just over four years ago.

De Bock has had numerous spells out on loan in recent years, playing for the likes of Oostende, Sunderland, ADO Den Haag and currently representing Zulte Waregem.

The left-back's current Leeds deal expires at the end of this season, and it seems inevitable that he will move on to pastures new.

The Latest: De Bock facing uncertain future

Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad [via Sport Witness], De Bock admitted that he doesn't know about his future but didn't give any hint as regards staying at Leeds. He revealed:

"Gosh. That remains to be seen. The most important thing is to first end this season in a good way and then we will see.

"But it is a fact that after a turbulent period over the past two years, I have again found some steadfastness here. And sometimes you have to cherish what you have. First and foremost, I want to focus on the end of this season."

The Verdict: Time to leave for good

De Bock's move to Elland Road simply hasn't worked out, as highlighted by so many loan moves elsewhere, and it makes sense for all parties for him to move on for good this summer.

He will likely play no part in Jesse Marsch's plans to take the team forward, and taking him off the wage bill could even help to free up funds for summer signings.

With Junior Firpo not impressing greatly at left-back this season - Stuart Dallas has often had to deputise in an auxiliary role - it could be that the Leeds manager sees that as an area in which to strengthen.
