The Latest: McLeish hails Leeds hero

Someone who has plenty of time for Dallas is McLeish, who spoke to Football Insider about his quality and the importance of him extending his stay at Elland Road. The former Aston Villa manager gushed:

"Amazing. Stuart Dallas had a tremendous season, especially the second half of the season.

"His goals against Manchester City and things like that, it just captures the imagination of every club.

"But also his own club to say: ‘We’ve got to get that kid tied down.’

"Dallas has proved above and beyond he is a top player for the Premier League.

"I guess Leeds have done their homework on him. The fact that they can secure them is another great piece of business. I wish I was playing at Leeds."

The Verdict: Best summer business?

Even though this could be a busy summer in the transfer market for Leeds, Dallas' new contract could be the best piece of business they do in the entire window.

The 30-year-old is such a key player for Marcelo Bielsa's side, not only working endlessly for the team but also showing great quality, as highlighted by eight goals and two assists in the league last season, including a double away to champions Manchester City.

Dallas should still have plenty left in the tank moving forward, continuing to be a huge player for Leeds as they look to finish in the European places next season.

In other news, one Leeds player could reportedly leave this summer - find out who it is here.
