Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has relayed comments from Jesse Marsch regarding a potential move for Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan.

The Lowdown: Rodrigo injury

The Whites appear to be fairly light in attack, with Rodrigo’s impressive start to the season papering over the cracks when it comes to signing a new forward.

However, the Spaniard suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder against Everton on Tuesday evening, leaving Marsch with only youngster Joe Gelhardt and Patrick Bamford following his return from injury.

Angus Kinnear appeared to hint that further signings were unlikely prior to the 1-1 draw, despite links of a move for Hwang, who was hailed by pundit Ian Wright as a player who has “got everything”.

The Latest: Marsch’s comments

Hay relayed comments from Marsch following the 1-1 draw with Everton on Twitter, with the Leeds boss asked specifically about Hwang.

Marsch admitted that he likes Hwang and said the South Korea international is on the ‘list’ at Elland Road.

"I know him very well, I like him, he knows our football. He's on our list, I can tell you that."

The Verdict: Desperate times…

Leeds were already in need of a new forward prior to Rodrigo’s injury on Tuesday evening, so hopefully, the club will now make an extra effort to bring one in before tomorrow evening’s deadline.

Hwang can play as a centre-forward or out wide and starred as a number nine under Marsch at RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig, contributing to 39 goals in 43 games.

Of course, Leeds won’t want to pay over the odds for any target, however, desperate times may call for desperate measures and the player's previous record under Marsch could tempt Leeds officials to push through a move.
