The Lowdown: Leeds bid
The Whites remain on the hunt for a new centre-forward after missing out on Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan.
Berisha appears to be a player of interest at Elland Road, with Celikbasli revealing in recent weeks that the Whites had made an offer worth around £1.7m for the 24-year-old.
As we know, a transfer is yet to gather any real pace, and it looks as if Leeds now have competition in the race to sign the Fenerbahce forward.
The Latest: Celikbasli’s comments
Celikbasli was talking to MOT Leeds News regarding Berisha. He revealed that the forward will make a decision on his future soon, while also saying that the club he decides to join will need to convince him about ‘the project and salary’.
“There are also offers from Germany for the player. The club that convinces the player about the project and salary will complete the transfer. But he will be making the decision soon.”
The Verdict: Time is ticking
The likes of Berisha and Arnaud Kalimuendo have been linked with moves to Leeds for a number of weeks now, so it would be wise for Victor Orta to accelerate the club’s attempts to bring in a new striker over the coming days as we tick closer to the transfer deadline.
Where will Leeds finish this season?
It seems as if the club will only make a move for a player in the final weeks of the window who they think will strengthen Jesse Marsch’s first-team ranks and fit in well at Thorp Arch.
Hopefully, a new forward, such as Berisha or Kalimuendo, will be that man, as Leeds are still fairly light in attack with Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt currently the only real options to lead the line.
