According to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (via Voetbal Primeur), Leeds United are interested in signing Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the summer transfer window.

The lowdown: Career so far

The 21-year-old starlet has done the rounds somewhat in Belgium, having spent time at Standard as a youngster before moving to Gent and Anderlecht prior to returning to Les Rouches.

Despite his tender years, Raskin has already amassed 79 senior career appearances, including 62 in the Jupiler Pro League.

A move to the Premier League could now be on the cards for the exciting Belgium youth international...

The latest: Leeds' interest in Raskin

As per Het Laatste Nieuws (via Voetbal Primeur), Leeds are keen on signing the four-cap Belgium under-21 ace.

The report claimed that Club Brugge and Serie A outfit Genoa are also interested in the youngster, who has been hailed as 'incredible' by Cécile De Gernier.

Under contract until 2023 (Transfermarkt), it's claimed that Raskin 'wants to leave' his current club this summer, and Leeds' director of football Victor Orta could be set to swoop.

The verdict: Smart move

This season has been a wretched one in terms of injuries at Elland Road, so Jesse Marsch should be desperate to bolster the ranks in the upcoming transfer window.

With both Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw suffering long-term setbacks, the midfield has been particularly impacted, and the Belgian youngster could be among the ideal solutions.

Overall this season, Raskin has scored once and provided four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. His career tally currently stands at four goals and nine assists.

Capable of playing as a box-to-box operator as well as in defensive midfield, the Belgian possesses a strong tackling ability which has been highlighted by winning 2.6 challenges per game in 29 league outings in 2021/22 (Sofascore).

For context, only Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas have a higher such ratio at Elland Road, so Raskin could add plenty of steel to the Whites' midfield if he gets his wish of a move.
