Leeds United correspondent Beren Cross has stated that the club are hoping to signing a goalkeeper next week.

Illan Meslier looks nailed on to remain first choice in Jesse Marsch’s first full season in charge. However, the Whites have been linked with signing an experienced ‘keeper as cover for the Frenchman.

Kiko Casilla has recently had the final 12 months of his Leeds deal terminated, with former Watford man Ben Foster discussed internally at Elland Road over recent months.

The Latest: Cross shares update

Cross took to Twitter on Wednesday to provide a transfer update from Elland Road, stating that ‘Leeds are hopeful a goalkeeper will be through the door next week’.

He added in a story for LeedsLive that second-choice goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson ‘picked up an issue’ in a behind-closed-doors game on Saturday.

The Verdict: Good news

With the update of Klaesson suffering an injury problem, it is good to see that Leeds are looking to act relatively quickly.

Dani van den Heuvel also appears to have a knock, so another youngster, Harry Christy, may feature on the bench this weekend as he did against Cagliari.

Hopefully, Meslier will remain fully fit throughout the season, but bringing in a new ‘keeper, potentially Foster, could be a wise move throughout the campaign.
