Leeds: Whites weighing up Jimmy-Jay Morgan move -Leeds United News

Leeds United appear to be weighing up a move for Southampton teenager Jimmy-Jay Morgan, according to Sky Sports

The Lowdown: Academy additions on the cards?

The Whites have been active so far this month by making two first-team signings for Jesse Marsch in Max Wober and Georginio Rutter and appear to have their eye on a third in Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

Leeds have trusted in their academy since returning to the Premier League, and it looks as if Victor Orta may add to the academy ranks at Thorp Arch before the month is out.

Teenage centre-back Diogo Monteiro appears to be of interest, and it looks as if Morgan could be another youngster on the radar in Yorkshire.

The Latest: Sky Sports post

Sky Sports shared an update on Morgan in their transfer blog on Tuesday, where Leeds were mentioned. They claim that the 17-year-old forward has told the Saints he wants to leave after rejecting a professional contract at St Mary’s.

Leeds, along with Arsenal and Manchester City, are all assessing whether or not to sign the youngster.

The Verdict: One to watch?

Leeds have had relative success when bringing in young English strikers to Thorp Arch in recent years. Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Sonny Perkins have all featured and scored for the first team and appear to be potential future stars.

Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Whites are tracking Morgan, who has been described as ‘one of the best finishers’ seen among Southampton’s youth ranks.

Leeds may need to battle the top two in the Premier League for his services, but the club’s record of handing youngsters first-team opportunities could give them a real chance of securing Morgan’s signature.
