Leeds United: Ryan Kent ‘happy and settled’ at Rangers

Ryan Kent in action vs Galatasaray

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed his delight at having kept hold of Ryan Kent this summer following interest from Leeds United.

It proved to be a busy summer for Marcelo Bielsa as he spent just under the £100m mark in bringing in new players at Elland Road.

The Argentine tactician guided the Whites to promotion to the Premier League this summer and his summer transfer activity seems to be paying dividends after what has been an impressive start to life back in England’s top flight.

One player on whom the former Athletic Bilbao manager missed out is Kent, having previously been linked with a move for the Rangers winger. Remaining in the Scottish Premiership, the 23-year-old has been performing at a high standard for Gerrard’s side, contributing with four goals and three assists in his 12 Premiership appearances.

What has Gerrard said about Ryan Kent?

Speaking to reporters as quoted by Leeds Live, Gerrard discussed the winger’s form and happiness at the Glasgow club.

“He’s playing a lot of games at the moment and I need to try and look after him, to make sure we can keep him in this vein of form,” said the ‘Gers boss when speaking about Kent.

“We’re delighted with him here and he’s happy and settled.

“We’re away from the noise that was around him a few weeks back and we’re looking forward to working with him here for a long time.”

Is missing out on Kent a bad thing for Leeds?

Having reportedly had a bid rejected by Rangers for Kent over the summer, Leeds manager Bielsa would have understandably been disappointed that he was unable to sign the winger.

However, the Argentine reacted quickly and sealed the deadline day signing of Brazilian attacker Raphinha, who is expected to provide competition to the likes of Jack Harrison and Helder Costa this season.

Nonetheless, a move back to the Premier League could be on the cards for Kent if he continues to impress in Scotland.
