Leeds United will have to splash out €35million (£29.9m) on Matheus Cunha if they want to sign him this summer, according to a fresh report.

The Lowdown: Cunha linked with Leeds move

The Whites could be expected to have a busy transfer window having already signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona, with Marcelo Bielsa looking to make his squad even more formidable ahead of next season.

Cunha has been linked with a move to Leeds in the past, having scored seven goals and registered four assists in the Bundesliga for Hertha in 2020/21.

The Latest: Fresh update provided

According to Bild [via Sport Witness], the German side are 'willing to talk' once Leeds match the aforementioned price tag, meaning Bielsa knows the situation clearly.

It remains to be seen if a bid will be made for the Brazilian, though, but more may become clearer in the coming days.

The Verdict: Is he worth it?

Cunha has shown what a handy signing he could be for Leeds, given his end product, but close to £30million is a lot to pay for one player, especially as he remains relatively unproven at the highest level.

It could be worth Bielsa turning his attentions elsewhere for more of a bargain buy in the attacking midfield and forward positions, given that a midfielder to add depth behind Kalvin Phillips will likely also be required.

With Jack Harrison, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford all developing so impressively under Bielsa, one would have to assume the next attacking signing may have to settle for playing second fiddle at least to begin with.
