Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has given his thoughts on Michael Cuisance’s collapsed move to Leeds United.
With the transfer window coming to a close, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has been seemingly keen to add to his squad having been linked with a number of players over the last few weeks.
Sky Sports were among various media outlets to report that a deal for French youngster Cuisance was moving forward, claiming that a medical and agreement over a transfer fee was all-but done and dusted.
Having been left out of Bayern’s recent defeat against Hoffenheim, the midfielder looked increasingly likely to move to England.
However, Sky Sports were again the reporting media outlet as they claimed Cuisance had failed a medical, whilst Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to say negotiations over the terms of the transfer fee had seen the deal come to an end.
Speaking during a press conference, Bayern boss Flick has now touched on his thoughts over why Cuisance’s move to Yorkshire broke down.
“The situation is certainly not that easy for him now,” he said. “It was certainly a setback, but I can say that our medical staff have a completely different opinion.
“That’s why we’ve told him we support him in every way. For him the position is difficult.”
Joining Bayern in August 2019, the central midfielder has featured very little for the Bavarian side, making just 11 first team appearances and it seems he will remain on the side-line this term after failing to gain a move away from the German side.
Whatever the reasons behind why Cuisance failed to move to Leeds, Bielsa and the Premier League club need to move on.
With the transfer window closing on Monday, quick movement will need to be made to bring in a potential new midfielder.
