Let’s be honest: These 2 Newcastle players’ careers are well and truly going downhill

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping for more fresh faces to join the club before the window shuts.

After their Championship winning season last season, it is hard to imagine a Newcastle player whose career at the club is going downhill.

With top quality performances from the like of Gayle, Ritchie and Clark, you will be forgiven for not noticing certain underperforming players, or players who don’t really feature in the first team anymore.

Now the Magpies find themselves back in the top-flight, Benitez will surely be looking to get rid of any dead weight around the club in order to bring in players who can keep Newcastle up in the Premier League.

Having already brought in a few new players to the club, the board will be expecting Benitez to balance the books out by selling a few players and with the states of these two players’ careers at the club, it may be best for them to leave this summer.

On that note, our landlord has selected TWO Newcastle players whose careers are well and truly going downhill….

Aleksander Mitrovic

Newcastle legend, Malcolm Macdonald has recently labelled Aleksander Mitrovic as “clueless” and given his performances over the last few seasons, maybe he’s right about the Serbian forward.

It’s hard to say that the 22-year-old’s career at the club is in decline because it never truly got started, in 65 games for Newcastle he’s only managed 15 goals.

It might be best for Mitrovic to try and revitalise his career at a different club.

Tim Krul

Rupturing his cruciate ligament in late 2015 has all but ended Tim Krul’s career at Newcastle.

Loan spells to Ajax and AZ Alkmaar followed last season but it is looking like Krul will never be the number one shot stopper at Newcastle again.

The world of Football can be very cruel but with Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow ahead of him in the pecking order, Tim Krul’s time at Newcastle could soon be coming to an end.
