It is very rare that players will leave Glasgow Rangers for their fierce rivals anyway, but it almost impossible that they will remain popular amongst the Gers supporters when they do cross that divide.
Mark Brown, Steve Pressley and Kenny Miller are just some of those who have played for Celtic after originally starting off their careers at Ibrox, whilst several others have made the switch in the opposite direction. In more recent times, the number of players to travel across the city has reduced, but Liam Burt is one of those who did take the plunge.

Burt came through the 54-time Scottish champions’ youth system, but he was a fan of Celtic as a youngster and even said it was a dream to play for them, which explains his move to Celtic Park. However, it now appears he has been released, leaving him without a club.

Unsurprisingly, this appears to have absolutely delighted the club’s supporters – one fan even called him an “absolute clown”. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
@LiamBurt10 Liam Burt is an absolute clown, signed for 1 year to be a cheerleader on twitter, very average player not good enough for our youth either he will find his level in the conference league in England

Liam Burt is a prime example of why youth players should keep quiet until they make it. Not good enough for Rangers or Celtic. Hope his career goes to nothing.
