It has been a rather quiet January transfer window for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United.
Mirror Football reported last month that Solskjaer was told by vice-chairman Ed Woodward prior to taking the job, that he would only be able to bring in players on loan as opposed to making permanent signings.
That stance has been stuck to with no permanent dealings but United are also yet to bring in any new faces on loan either as Solskjaer continues to get the best out of what he has at his disposal.
With that being said, let’s take a look at two players who have been impacted positively by the Red Devils’ lack of activity in the transfer window…
Victor Lindelof
Lindelof’s performances have been one of the main reasons that United find themselves having won every game under Solskjaer as of yet.
Due to United not bringing in a centre-back, which it seemed they so desperately needed under Jose Mourinho’s reign, Lindelof has had true faith placed in him, which he has repaid back in recent weeks.
His calm, composed and assured displays has meant he has won Solskjaer’s complete trust, having played in every minute of Premier League football under the Norwegian and that does not look to change anytime soon.
Phil Jones
Jones is another player who has benefitted as a result of United’s quiet window. Having been error-prone under Mourinho, the 26-year-old surely looked set to be leaving Old Trafford by the end of the season.
However, he has turned it around under Solskjaer, having been given the freedom to roam out of defence with the ball and the confidence to play to his strengths.
Jones has featured in all eight of United’s games under Solskjaer, starting six, showing that the manager clearly has faith in him and he may not need to look into the transfer window for another option in that role as of yet.
