BBC Sport have Liverpool fans frowning here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Brendan Rodgers has reportedly claimed that the club is united.

The Reds boss has come in for some increasing pressure in recent days following two hugely depressing results, firstly against FC Basel in the Champions League followed by a 3-0 drubbing at Manchester United on Sunday.

He claimed: “I hear one or two bits and pieces about unrest and it is totally untrue.

“Our dressing room is very strong.”

He also spoke about the winning spirit at the club and claimed: “These are competitive players who nearly won the league last year, so they won’t be happy with losing.

“But the actual spirit in the group is very strong.

“That is one of the reasons why, when we get that confidence back, then we will go into the second half of the season and be much better.”

We certainly think that Rodgers is clutching at straws here and unless there is some serious investment in the January transfer window – and one more successful than bringing in the likes of Dejan Lovren – their performances will only be getting worse in the second half of the season.
