Liverpool fans are shaking their heads here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by IBTimes that the club are set to battle it out with Borussia Dortmund once again this summer.
It has already been reported that one of their top targets Christian Eriksen would prefer a move to the German side over one to the Premier League and now it seems that the Bundesliga side are also after Porto forward Jackson Martinez –another one of Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers’ top targets.
Liverpool are determined that next season they will not finish below city rivals Everton again and add to that the fact that they want to challenge for a European spot and the club are set to go all out to sign top players and feel the Colombian forward is one of those.
Despite rumours linking Luis Suarez away from the club, Rodgers is confident he can keep the forward – for now – and despite the form of Daniel Sturridge, wants to pair Suarez with Martinez. The in-form forward has 28 goals thus far this season and has been a key player for Porto as they fight for the title with Benfica. Porto are understandably keen to keep hold of the forward yet a bid of around £15 million could be enough to prise him away.
Do Liverpool stand a realistic chance of luring Martinez to Anfield this summer? Rate this rumour below.
