Mohamed Salah can do no wrong in the eyes of Liverpool supporters, and with good reason. After joining last season from Roma, Salah went on to have one of the most memorable debut seasons in recent memory for his new club, impressing from the outset and throughout. After finishing the campaign with 32 league goals, it came as no surprise to hear that he was nominated for the FIFA The Best Men’s Player of the Year award.
Based on his performances throughout the last year, there is no doubting that the Egyptian deserved the praise.
However, with the awards taking place on Monday night, Salah lost out to Luka Modric on the night. Perhaps more surprising, though, was the fact that he was also snubbed by FIFA in the Team of the Year. With the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Eden Hazard favoured in place of Salah, the Egyptian had to settle for the Puskas award for his goal in the Merseyside Derby last season.
Naturally always supportive of their main man, Liverpool fans have been quick to defend their attacker, and it’s evident that many fans online simply don’t understand it. Indeed, as one fan puts it, it just makes no sense that he would be included in the best players list without featuring in the overall squad.

Modric had an amazing season no doubt with a UCL medal and WC runners up medal. However Salah broke a record for scoring the most goals ever in the EPL. So maybe just maybe the best player is evaluated on the team’s performance and not on the individual’s performance! #LFC
