Following the recent coronavirus update that Manchester City vs Arsenal has been postponed (via BBC Sport), Gary Lineker has spoken out about the increasing threat to Liverpool’s first title win in 30 years.
English football continues to be effected by coronavirus cases following the postponement of the Premier League clash at the Etihad and the news of Evangelos Marinakis being diagnosed with the virus.
Lineker has predicted that this could be the ‘beginning of the end of the football season’ in a recent tweet. There’s been a lot of speculation over whether the Premier League will be cut short and as a result, the title voided.
If the worst happens for Reds fans, they could see their first ever Premier League title slip away, but fans are adamant nothing will dampen their spirits.
Supporters are furious at Lineker’s latest tweet, particularly after he said ‘Despite the words of the late Bill Shankly, football is not more serious than life and death.’ Some fans have described him as ‘disgraceful‘ and a ‘clown‘, while another has scoffed that he is ‘a hater’.
