Liverpool fans have been looking back on the debut of former Reds’ skipper Steven Gerrard, 21 years to the day.
The Merseyside club’s 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on November 29th, 1998, signified the birth of a new Anfield hero. The affair would kickstart the career of arguably Liverpool’s greatest ever player.
After 21 years since a skinny, anxious and apprehensive 18-year-old walked out on the Anfield turf for the first time, winning almost every trophy possible in the club game.

Gerrard later admitted during an interview that he was not comfortable with having to play on the right-wing, believing that he was out of his depth. He later moved to central midfield where his talent truly shone.
