Not many players could move from Liverpool to a Premier League rival and maintain the support of many of the Anfield faithful, but it appears as though Fernando Torres has done exactly that.
Torres moved to Liverpool to Chelsea back in 2011, in what was a very controversial move at the time, though in retrospect, Liverpool probably got the better end of the stick.
Following his move, Torres failed to enjoy the form that made him so useful at Anfield, and though he won trophies, he was disappointing at Stamford Bridge.
He’s still playing today, albeit in Japan, but the Spaniard is seemingly still interested in all things Premier League. He’s recently been discussing the Premier League title race with Sky Sports, and in the clip, he revealed that he hopes that Liverpool win the Premier League this year ahead of his old team Chelsea. He cites the desire of the Liverpool faithful as a key reason why.
Unsurprisingly, this pleased a lot of Liverpool fans online, with lots of supporters taking to Reddit to discuss it. It seems as though Torres has magically become a lot more popular at Anfield as a result.
