It has been revealed that Adrian thought he would be moving to Real Betis last summer rather than Liverpool.
Speaking to Radio Sevilla, via InsideFutbol (relayed by @AnfieldEdition), the Spaniard commented that he thought a return to boyhood club Betis was on the cards last season. However, after talks of the move ‘disappeared’, Adrian took the opportunity to join Liverpool when it presented itself.

The 33-year-old has become a controversial figure amongst Reds fans after a mixture of heroics and howlers divided the fanbase. After joining from West Ham, Adrian kickstarted his Liverpool career by helping his new side lift the Super Cup. His penalty shootout save gave Jurgen Klopp’s side the glory, but that performance was far from a window into things to come.
This season, Adrian was thrust into the limelight after Alisson was ruled out through injury. In both the FA Cup and Champions League, the Spaniard made costly errors in the net which resulted in Liverpool’s exit from the competitions.

Kopites have reflected on the goalkeeper’s comments and it seems many wish he had joined Betis instead of the Anfield outfit, with one supporter commenting ‘if only that move had gone through’.
Sounds harsh but he is the reason Liverpool are not going to win a potential treble

I’d rather we had stuck with Kelleher if indeed we’re this broke
