Outcast Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has come out with a bold statement, claiming he is ready to challenge Alisson for the number one shirt at Anfield.
The German shot-stopper has spent the last two seasons with Besiktas, where he has suffered a turbulent loan spell. He was first shipped out to Turkey in the summer of 2018 but he is due to return to Anfield after a fresh disagreement with the Superlig side forced him to terminate his deal (via Guardian).

Karius was disowned by many Liverpool fans following the 2017/18 Champions League final in Kiev, a night which will stay with him forever. The German pretty much single-handedly ruined the Reds’ chances of European glory after two unforgivable errors which gifted Real Madrid two of their three goals.
Now that he’s back on Merseyside, Karius says that he is ready compete for his role in the first team and doesn’t feel any pressure to find a new club this summer.
Many Liverpool fans are almost in shock and have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief at the comments from the 26-year-old, with one supporter even wondering if it’s April 1st:
I’m getting ready to challenge Klopp for the managers job

No please don’t! We’ve seen enough and my heart can’t handle it. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a Liverpool goal

Is it April 1st?
