Lots of Liverpool fans have leapt to the defence of midfielder Naby Keita after he was criticised by a journalist.
This comes after captain Jordan Henderson suffered a hamstring injury and faces up to three weeks on the sidelines. With this, comes a gap to fill in the Reds’ midfield, with the Guinea international expected to come in and deputise for the skipper. Keita has suffered five different injuries since signing for the club in 2018 and has missed a total of 23 games, as per TransferMarkt.
David Lynch of the Standard wrote that it is now “make-or-break” for the Guinean middle man and added that he is aiming to live up to his £52m hype. As a result, the Kop faithful defended Keita on social media and made their feelings clear. One fan described his analysis as “unbelievably crass”, while another believed that he was being unfair considering his catalogue of injuries.

David this article is unfair. Doesn’t see you doing similar one on Ox who has been injured just as much

Make or break? Jesus Christ it’s almost like we can’t see a talented midfielder right in front of us…I love a work horse but surely we can afford atleast 1 midfield who takes risk?

The unfair criticism keita receives on #LFC Twitter is so unfair.. he’s clearly our best midfielder but injuries has hampered his progress.. why were articles like these not written about lallana or Sturridge when they were battling injuries

Wow a toothless midfield that’s dropped 2 points in the PL to date. Unbelievably crass analysis. You clearly fail to understand “The Klopp” footballing ethos. Name a creative midfielder in his Dortmund team?
