Liverpool: Fans think Timo Werner has issued a ‘cry for help’ after his recent comments on Chelsea move

Timo Werner has made further comments surrounding the nature of his move to Chelsea from RB Leipzig.

The striker joined the Blues back in June for a transfer fee of £45million (via Sky Sports). However, he was originally linked to Premier League rivals Liverpool, who were interested in pursuing a move for his services for several months.

Werner himself even admitted he thought he would be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s style of football. Now, he has shed more light on how he snubbed the Reds with a shock transfer to west London instead.

“When I decided to leave Leipzig I talked to different clubs,” the Germany international told Goal.com (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom). “I don’t want to talk too much about other clubs. Of course, there are some other clubs like Liverpool who have a great team.

“Maybe I could fit in other teams but, in the end, I decided Chelsea because it was the best decision I could take.”

Many Liverpool fans have responded to Werner’s comments and are wishing the club could have got a deal over the line for him. A couple of supporters have said he ‘wanted to sign’ and he ‘begged us’ to snap him up. Whilst another believes this recent interview is a ‘cry for help’ aimed at the Reds to revisit a move for him.
