Some Liverpool fans have been preaching for midfielder Pedro Chirivella to be given a new contract.
The Spanish midfielder has played a big part in the Reds’ FA Cup campaign this season. Indeed, he featured during his side’s 1-0 win against Everton and provided the assist for Curtis Jones’ goal in the 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury on Sunday. As it stands, his contract expires at the end of the season and the 22-year-old has seen very little first-team football since his arrival in 2013 from Valencia.
After loan spells at Dutch sides Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II, he has only ever made 10 appearances for the senior side in his career whilst playing 60 times for the U23s, as per TransferMarkt. Still, after receiving glowing reviews in recent weeks, supporters were happy to see him offered a new deal and made their feelings clear on social media.
