Liverpool: Fans worry as ‘unthinkable’ update on Thiago transfer emerges

The Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool saga continues to twist and turn as a new update has presented itself.

The Bayern Munich midfielder enjoyed a successful Sunday evening after lifting his side’s sixth Champions League trophy. Liverpool fans were loving watching their number one target celebrate, but a new update has emerged which could dampen their spirits.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol (relayed via @AnfieldEdition), it is viewed as ‘unlikely’ that the Merseyside outfit will meet Bayern’s £23million asking price. Although both Liverpool and Thiago want the move to happen, the Reds aren’t expected to spend that amount on a 29-year-old.

This update hasn’t gone down well with fans, who feel £23m is more than a fair amount for a Champions League winner – indeed his value actually remains much higher at £43.2m. One supporter has replied to the news saying it ‘would be unthinkable’ to let this deal fall through after months of speculation and interest shown.

Another fan thinks that a member of the Liverpool board ‘should be held responsible’ if the deal does not come to fruition.
