A number of Liverpool supporters have hailed James Pearce's latest tweet regarding the importance of tying down Mohamed Salah to a new Reds deal.

The Egyptian was at his exceptional best on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp's side drew 2-2 at home to Manchester City in a Premier League classic.

The 29-year-old produced a stunning assist for Sadio Mane's opener at Anfield before scoring an outrageous goal of his own, weaving past City tackles and firing past Ederson.

On current form, Salah is arguably the best player in the world, while his goal record at Liverpool stands at an astonishing 134 in 212 appearances. However, he is still yet to sign a new deal at Anfield, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2023.

There is concern that the issue is yet to be resolved, and in taking to Twitter on Monday, Pearce claimed that the club's hierarchy must get it sorted sooner rather than later.

In posting a link to his accompanying article for The Athletic, he tweeted the introductory comment of: "Forget talk of wage structures, Mohamed Salah has to be treated as a special case. Liverpool need to ensure his contract situation doesn’t drag on and become an unwelcome distraction in the pursuit of glory. It needs sorting."
