Liverpool: Reds have ‘always liked’ Son Heung-min -Liverpool News

Transfer expert Dean Jones says that Liverpool have ‘always liked’ Son Heung-min ahead of a potential shock move for the South Korean.

The Lowdown: Real Madrid interest

It has recently been reported that the 30-year-old is thinking about leaving Tottenham Hotspur, with Real Madrid thought to be interested in his signature.

He has a contract until 2025 so Spurs are under no real pressure to sell him, but if they do not qualify for the Champions League, then Son may push for a move away from north London.

The Latest: Liverpool like Son

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has shared that Liverpool have ‘always liked’ Son, but Real Madrid are seemingly joined by Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the race to sign him.

The journalist stated: “I think if Tottenham don’t make the top four this season, that’s when the worry will probably start to set in, because there’s no doubt there will be clubs that are interested in signing Son.

“Real Madrid are being spoken about at the moment, but outside of that, Liverpool have always liked him, Barcelona would be there and then probably PSG and Bayern Munich.”

The Verdict: Surprising

Given that Liverpool are a fellow ‘big six’ rival, it would be quite a surprise if Son were to swap Spurs for Anfield, especially given that the Reds are lingering in mid-table.

He may be having a poor Premier League season by his standards, but last term he was exceptional, picking up 23 goals and nine assists (Transfermarkt) and earning himself the Golden Boot alongside Liverpool superstar Mo Salah.

Will Ferrell

Is comedy legend Will Ferrell a Liverpool fan?

Son is similar in playing style to both the Egyptian and former Merseyside favourite Sadio Mane, who Jurgen Klopp has admitted is missed at the club.

Nonetheless, if Liverpool can somehow pull a deal off, then Son could be the key to get them firing again.
