Many Liverpool fans have been voicing their displeasure over the fact that midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri will be sold this summer, according to reports.
Despite starting and scoring during the Reds’ emphatic 7-2 victory against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup recently, it appears this was not enough to convince the Switzerland international to stay at Anfield for the long term.
The Athletic’s James Pearce reported that a “number of approaches” have been made direct to his agent in recent weeks, which forced Klopp to leave him out of his side’s Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal on Thursday evening.
He added that it looks increasingly likely that his two-year stay on Merseyside will come to an abrupt end before the transfer window closes on Monday, with one of those clubs believed to be from Serie A.
Xherdan Shaqiri - keep or sell?
During his time at Anfield, Shaqiri has scored just eight times and provided five assists in 42 appearances for the club (as per TransferMarkt), which is not a great deal of time for two full seasons worth of football.
With this in mind, supporters still appreciated the talent that he possessed and questioned the club’s actions. Here you will find some of those comments:
will never understand the way Shaq was treated

Wait, where’s Shaq going? Why are we selling 2-3 forward players while only bringing one in? Our depth is gonna be even worse 😂
