We at the Football Transfer Tavern are licking our lips at the prospect of Liverpool signing Barcelona forward Cristian Tello, however the Daily Mirror claim the Spanish giants will want goalkeeper Pepe Reina involved in a swap deal.
Reina has not been as consistent over the past 18 months as he was earlier in his Anfield career and so the Reds may be tempted to cash in on the Spanish international.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been a long-term admirer of Tello and would love to add the talented youngster to his squad, especially with the future of Luis Suarez still up in the air.
The pacy winger has an £8.5 million release clause in his contract and Liverpool have rated Reina at around £10 million so a deal could be negotiated around those close prices.
Liverpool would have to then spend big on a new goalkeeper and they are unlikely to allow their number one stopper to leave until they have a replacement lined up.
