Liverpool: Fans delighted with Curtis Jones during RB Leipzig victory

Many Liverpool fans showered midfielder Curtis Jones with praise following his side’s 2-0 win against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

The Reds gave themselves a huge advantage going into the second leg in what was a comfortable evening for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane enough to secure the victory.

Jones started in a typical midfield trio alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago Alcantara and was one of the highest-rated players on the night – with good reason behind that.

Per Sofascore, Jones successfully completed all three of his long balls, made three interceptions and accumulated a pass success rate of 81%, as the 20-year-old more than showed why he is capable of being a real first-team star under Klopp.

The performance even prompted The Athletic’s James Pearce to wax lyrical about him after the game, tweeting: “Curtis Jones’ development over the past 12/18 months has been absolutely immense. From being an option in the domestic cups to shining at the highest level.”

Unsurprisingly, supporters were thrilled with what they saw from the local lad and are looking forward to what they will see from Jones until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
