There is some rather interesting news for Liverpool fans arriving in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening and it comes from the Daily Star who carry an update on Mario Balotelli’s future.

The Italian international forward is of course set to serve a one-match ban from the FA after some rather ill-advised social media posting on the Instagram platform.

Given the fact that even Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is now questioning his ability, in order to secure his future at Anfield, Balotelli is set to be on his best behaviour.

The repentant forward claimed: “Following the recent events related to my “Super Mario” post, the FA decision has made clear that it was wrong.

“I am sorry that my team-mates and supporters of Liverpool FC have to be penalised for something I did and now come to regret.

“It is my intention to comply with the decision of the FA and make sure it never happens again.”

As our regulars note, having the intention to behave and actually doing it are two different things and when it comes to the former Manchester City forward, we are not sure he can actually abide by the first one – even with the very best of intentions.
