The Guardian are keeping Liverpool fans on their toes here in the Football Transfer Tavern and they seem to have a bit of gossip concerning the form of Simon Mignolet.
The Belgian goalkeeper was dropped in favour of Brad Jones earlier this term after falling out of favour and finding himself on the bad side of manager Brendan Rodgers.
However, after a brilliant performance in the League Cup against Chelsea, the former Sunderland stopper has made a return to form and according to Mignolet, he has his girlfriend to thank for it.
Mignolet was speaking about how she has turned his season around for the better and noted: “It was Boxing Day, my family were over here, and my missus and everyone were having dinner when she said: ‘Simon, are you sometimes over-thinking stuff?’”
Over the bar, our landlord pours a couple of pints and hands out some free shots to punters and muses that Mignolet may well have improved but quite if he is at the level Brendan Rodgers needs him to be at week in, week out is still up for debate.
