Liverpool fans are looking very surprised here in the Football Transfer Tavern after seeing the news from the Daily Star – with the publication claiming that the Reds offered Abou Diaby the chance to join the Anfield club, before he departed for Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The midfielder was renowned for how injury-prone he was and he has been out of action for the majority of the past two seasons, but that did not stop Liverpool attempting to secure a deal for the French ace.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern feels this could have actually been a really shrewd purchase from Brendan Rodgers, and had this to say: “This would have been some buy for Liverpool, if Diaby managed to stay fit throughout the duration of the season, he could have turned out to be a real asset for the Merseyside club.”
A couple of Liverpool fans enjoying a beer and burger special at the bar completely agree with the landlord, and feel his solidity and enforcer style of play could have been a massive boost to the side.
