A victory would probably help bring Champions League back to Anfield with a possible three points extending the gap to 14 points between them and United, who are currently in seventh.

Securing the elite European competition would open up ‘next level’ transfer prospects with big name players more willing to move to the Merseyside club.

One player who has since been linked with a move to Liverpool is Paris Saint-Germain winger Jeremy Menez, whose contract at the Parc Des Princes expires in the summer.

Now The Express reports that Menez has revealed he faces an uncertain future with Laurent Blanc’s side after only starting six league matches this term with talks yet to begin over his future.

The Reds were reportedly interested in a move for the talented wide-man during the recent transfer window and could revive their interest if he becomes a free agent in the summer.

And now he has confirmed he is not sure where he will be playing next season.

He said: “We talked about an extension, but it was not sorted out.

“I have three months remaining on my contract at PSG, we will see what will happen at the end of the season.”
