Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern were drowning their sorrows again on Thursday night following their side’s defeat in the Europa League.
Ronald Koeman’s men were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Tottenham at the weekend to inflict a second successive defeat on the Merseyside outfit, that result itself was enough to frustrate several of our resident Toffees.
And when they thought that the Europa League would give them a great chance of getting back to form, their team produced a limp display to go down 3-0 to Serie A side Atalanta, with three goals in the 18 minutes before half time enough to see off Koeman’s men.
Everton did well in qualifying for Europe’s secondary competition with victories over Ruzomberok and Hajduk Split, but they were comfortably second-best in Italy on Thursday night to further underline the problems Koeman has at the club at present.
The Toffees have successive home games against Apollon Limassol and Lyon to come in a bid to kick-start their Europa League campaign, yet three successive defeats in all competitions and a failure to score in all three has seen many Evertonians take to Twitter to express their views on their team, with certain players in particular coming in for criticism from the Goodison Park faithful…
