Newcastle fans have been celebrating their promotion the Premier League for weeks now in the Transfer Tavern.

Rafael Benitez’s successful campaign in the Championship has seen his side return to the Premier League at the first time of asking and it’s fair to say that every fan in the Transfer Tavern are happy to see them back in the top flight (apart from Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull’s). Furthermore, the strong squad possessed by Benitez shows there to be a decent amount of Premier League quality among the Toon Army’s ranks however the Newcastle fans in the Tavern are praying Benitez brings in the type of player that really solidify the club’s place in the top flight.

Of course, this is easier said than done but our landlord feels Newcastle will attract quality players due to its reputation as well as the pulling power of Rafa Benitez. He believes the north east club have the best chance of surviving out of all the promoted sides but they still have to buy well in this window.

Harry Maguire

Following Hull’s releagtion to the Championship, the interest in Harry Maguire will surely step up from Premier League admirers of the ball playing centre half.

The 24 year old was a shining light in a disastrous season at the Tigers and that may tempt Rafa Benitez into bringing Maguire to Newcastle.

Our landlord has noted that Benitez and co. will have to move quick in order to make Maguire a Magpie as he anticipates heaps of interest will be circulating the defender and it is really a deal that could be done with being sealed sooner rather than later.
