Man City eye replacement for disappointing defensive star

The Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are finally coming around to the idea…

Vincent Kompany has really had a tough time of it as of late, much to the disappointment of the Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.

After joining the Sky Blues in 2008, Kompany quickly ascended to the rank of captain, and he went on to lead his side to a number of huge trophy wins.

However, whilst the first few years of his tenure in Manchester were great – his last few years have been decidedly less so.

He has struggled for form, fitness and game time – and his latest injury lay-off appears to be the final straw for City boss Pep Guardiola.

According to the Guardian, Man City officials are set to hold talks this weekend – with the view of buying a new central defender to replace Kompany.

It is thought that City officials think Kompany’s recurring injury problems have left them light at the back – and it is an issue that they feel they must solve. This, combined with Guardiola’s reported doubts regarding Otamendi and Kolorov – and it would appear that a Man City defensive rebuild is on the cards.

Whilst the Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern like the idea of a new defender, they would certainly be sad to see club legend Kompany leave the side. He has been a brick wall at the heart of the Citizens’ defence since his arrival – having made 223 league appearances for the club.

Our landlord thinks that the Man City fans can expect a big money signing very soon…
