Manchester City: Fans welcome transfer links with Samuel Chukwueze

A number of Manchester City fans have welcomed a transfer report linking them with Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Spanish media outlet AS reported that the Premier League champions have been monitoring the development of the 21-year-old, who is also on the transfer radar of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, for some time. The news was subsequently shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra.

#ManCity are interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze (21) this summer, and have been 'closely monitoring' the development of the Nigeria international since he broke into the La Liga club's first team.

The Nigerian is one of several wingers to have been linked with Manchester City of late, with the Etihad Stadium outfit also reportedly keeping tabs on Ferran Torres (Super Deporte), Leon Bailey (Daily Mail) and Adama Traore (Le10 Sport).

Chukwueze has struck four goals and supplied four assists in 30 games for Villarreal this season, a respectable tally given that he is not a nailed-on starter at El Madrigal (as per TransferMarkt). He has averaged 1.4 shots and 1.2 key passes per game so far in 2019/20 and, despite his tender years, he already has the experience of 68 first team appearances for his current club.

These Manchester City fans on Twitter are in firm favour of the Nigerian coming to the Etihad Stadium, with some supporters labelling him “brilliant” while another believes that the £24.3m-rated youngster (as per TransferMarkt) would be “cheaper than Bailey”, who is valued at £40m by Bayer Leverkusen:
