Plenty of Manchester City fans were left raging and bewildered by reports that they face a lengthy wait to discover whether they will be allowed to play in the Champions League next season.
The Mirror reported that the Premier League champions, whose appeal against their two-year ban from European club competitions will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) next week, could have to wait until August to find out if it has been successful. The news was later relayed on Twitter by @City_Xtra.

Manchester City were handed a two-year suspension from UEFA competitions by European football’s governing body in February for “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play regulations but are hopeful of getting the ban overturned, with their appeal set to be heard by CAS between next Monday and Wednesday.
As noted by Manchester Evening News, many of the club’s fans have a strained relationship with UEFA, which is thought to date back to disproportionate fines that were handed out for various incidents in the 2011/12 season and further fuelled by a £49m fine in 2014 for FFP breaches, with many of the Etihad Stadium faithful voicing their displeasure by regularly booing the pre-match Champions League anthem.
